Soursop (Annona muricata) is a tropical evergreen tree aka Graviova, Corossol......with a long history of traditional use, particularly in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The fruit is large and spiky with a green skin, while its interior is a white, sweet, and fibrous pulp. It is primarily consumed for its unique flavor, which is a blend of strawberry, pineapple, and citrus. The fruit can be eaten fresh, or it can be made into juices, smoothies, desserts, and ice cream. It is a good source of fiber, which is important for digestion. The amount of food energy in soursop is about 621 kJ.


The leaves are also widely used, typically dried and brewed into a tea. This tea is a traditional remedy for relaxation and to promote restful sleep. In some cultures, the leaves are also applied topically as a poultice to soothe skin ailments and to tenderize meat. The leaves contain a complex mix of beneficial compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and acetogenins (Acetogenins are versatile anticancer molecules causing tumor cell death by different mechanisms.).
